Working in the Antelope Valley

Few places in the US are expanding at the rate of the Antelope Valley. Our economy just keeps growing and growing, largely because of the low cost of industrial land combined with the forward thinking efforts of the Lancaster and Palmdale local governments who are enticing industry into the valley. The fact that housing is affordable and easy to get remains a driving factor in the amazing growth this Valley has seen in recent years. Growth that is expected to continue well into the next decade!

During the 1980’s, the Antelope Valley experienced a population growth of 105% - transforming it from a small desert community to a place of opportunity for industry.

During 1999 home sales increased a whopping 24%, spearheading an upward trend in real estate prices and a boom in new home building.

With aerospace needs growing into the next decade, and support services moving into the valley, there has never been a better time to find quality employment in the valley.

Whether you want to work in hi-tech aerospace, computer programming, retail, real estate, manufacturing or any of the myriad service industries required to support a rapidly growing economy, there are plenty of options available in the Antelope Valley.

Also – if you want to work in a big city, but prefer to live in a more relaxed style, Los Angeles is just a 60 minute or so drive away. About 60,000 people a day commute to work in the Los Angeles area, because they love the lifestyle of the valley but prefer to work in the big city.

For four decades employment has been concentrated in the aerospace industry, currently employing 1 in 7 workers in the valley. This is changing rapidly as the region grows. Continued expansion is expected well into the next decade as industry is forced to leave the Los Angeles areas due to cost constraints or simply a lack of space. The valley industrial areas are well serviced by road and track and are becoming ever more appealing to industry as an alternative to Los Angeles.

The Antelope Valley is set to expand at an amazing rate – and that means jobs!
